In this presentation you will learn all the steps to creating gorgeous needlepoint beginning with canvas selection, thread choices and stitch decisions. You will get an intimate glimpse at the creative choreography of planning for the painted details of a canvas design. Long before the first stitch is taken, a successful final masterpiece is guaranteed with the secrets presented here.

*July 26 - The Power of Mini Stitches
In this society where the big and powerful are glorified, small and delicate is often dismissed. However, on a needlepoint canvas, tiny stitches over a single or double canvas thread can have a huge impact. In this presentation, you will be given a bible of powerful mini stitches and some time to experiment in this hands-on workshop. With this knowledge, even the smallest elements on your canvas can live up to their creative potential. 10 AM - 12 noon. $45.
*September 27- Tools and Tricks
The difference between an amateur and professional is often the equipment they use. In this demonstration presentation, the newest needlepoint tools will be discussed. With the wisdom presented here, you will become an educated consumer who will get the best value for your stitching dollar. In addition some simple home remedies will also be offered to diminish your stitching frustration. Follow the information that is presented here, and your needlepoint talent will definitely be upgraded to the professional level. 10 AM - 12 noon. $45.
*October 18 - Charley Harper Lecture:
Fur, Feathers and Flowers
Charley Harper is an iconic American designer. Born in the Midwest, he captures the whimsy
of nature like no other artist. Large and bold blocks of solid colors allow for a myriad of
decorative stitches. In this presentation, learn the best techniques, stitches and threads to
creative fur, feathers and flowers in the style of this Modernistic artist who was known for his
highly stylized wildlife prints, posters and book illustrations.
10 AM - 12 noon. $45.
October 25 - Charley Harper Project:
The Upside of the Downside
In this full day workshop, you will be given the all the necessary inspiration and information
to create this whimsical Charley Harper rendition of a nuthatch and cardinal. A myriad of
darling stitches, beads and gorgeous threads will inspire your creative journey.
10 AM - 4 PM. $TBD.

The Needleworks of Birmingham
August 8 & 9 - Needle Deeva Floral
9 AM - 4 PM, Friday and Saturday
June will be returning to Michigan for this special two day workshop featuring a lovely new floral by Needle Deeva. She will teach tricks about stitching on the diagonal and how to work with dimensional stitches. Students will learn how much depth and embellishment can be added to a canvas without there being too much. There will be bead work, some ribbon work and open stitch work as well.
Workshop fees include teaching, canvas, threads, detailed color stitch guide, needles, and beads, as well as lunch on both days.
